If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing location, this is the place for you. Amazing view and access to the water so if you have a kayak or boat it’s a good idea to take advantage. Easy access to Alexandria Bay and other nearby sites is also easy. The cottage is very clean and well appointed. Would stay again!

The cottage hosted by Mark and Donna at Goose Bay is a wonderful retreat, which facilitates a broad range of options from quiet contemplation to active exploration. The cottage is situated in close proximity to the bustling Alexandria Bay with varying entertainment options. However, the cottage is nestled in a secluded area, directly on the water, with access only from a private, well-kept dirt/stone road. Access to the water is easy with a few short steps to the boat dock or via a pine needle laden hill to the crisp, clear water of the serene Goose Bay. The interior of the cottage is an open floor plan with a well-placed and attractive wood stove in the middle of the living area. A spiral staircase adds to the smart flair of the interior space and beckons visitors toward the upstairs bedrooms for a quality night’s sleep in the comfortable beds. The downstairs bedrooms (Master bedroom on the 1st floor) offer very comfortable beds with close proximity to the bathroom, featuring a shower with good water pressure AND a claw foot cast iron soaking tub. The new Anderson windows are easy to operate. We kept the windows open most days and nights. The open windows ventilated the cottage well and allowed the nature sounds to permeate the interior. Outside, the large deck with chairs and dining table offer a perfect venue for enjoying tasty meals created in the well-outfitted chef’s kitchen and on the new Weber Grill—or simply drinking-in the awe inspiring sunsets. The fire pit on the west side of the cottage was used several nights for camp fires around which our family made s’mores, laughed and bonded-a key objective for our newly blended family, during our vacation at the cottage. An abundant array of wildlife is easy to view at the cottage, ranging from the seasonal red wing black birds to majestic swans to lively chipmunks. My sons and I witnessed a beaver swimming in a nearby cove. At night, we witnessed the eerie, beautiful call of loons—a rare treat and stark contrast from the urban environment in which we live near Philadelphia. The fishing was fantastic with willing panfish, northern pike and bass. The fish were quick to take our spinner baits and flies. We kayaked/SUPed into the secluded creek coves on the eastern aspect of the bay and sailed our Hobie TI up to and around the famous Boldt Castle, which we later toured via the Uncle Sam boat tour line. With easy access to Canada, we day tripped to Ottowa, spending time at various museums (recommend the Bank of Canada Museum) and government buildings. The ByWard market with its many restaurants, pubs and flower/produce stands was a real hit with our kids. Ottowa is less then 2 hours away and is well worth the trip. The quaint town of Clayton provided entertainment for all. We bought souvenirs in a few of the many shops, which feature local arts/crafts. The free museum In town offered a surprising glimpse into the rich history of the region. The antique boat museum was enjoyed by all of us. I particularly was drawn to the working boat building shop and the wooden speedboat displays. If you have time, make sure to walk into the canoe room to see the sailing canoes! After the boat museum we watched scuba divers being briefed on the shoreline before they descended into the St. Lawrence to explore a wreck located just a few feet from the river bank. We look forward to a return trip to the cottage at Goose Bay. I have no doubt that the memories and bonding created from our vacation will be remembered for our lifetimes. Thank you, Donna and Mark for providing a very unique, cool and clean cottage to us and your future guests! Scott and Carolyn

“The fishing is always outstanding around there, but finding a quiet, available and clean place to stay with the normal home amenities and water access is definitely a challenge. These guys have a great and clean place that’s on the water with amazing views and in a quiet place outside of town but close enough for daily booze, food, and local attraction runs. Great place.”

Mark and Donna,

We are at the end of our wonderful vacation and wanted to thank you for offering such a beautiful experience that allowed us to have a very relaxing week in your heart warming cottage.  It had all the comforts of home.  It's architecture with the interior beams complete a contemporary country, warm feeling.  We especially enjoyed the beautiful breeze that cooled us as we sat on the deck overseeing the St. Lawrence River socializing with our family and friends.  The evenings were filled with exploring Alexandria Bay and Clayton as well as remaining in for the evening, watching a variety of options on TV because of your streaming system.  We were never without options of things to do.  Thank you for providing such a wonderful place to unwind and restore.  We will surely share our experience with friends and please feel free to share our thank you note.

Sincerely,

Tina and Kyle R.

This was our first Airbnb, so we weren’t sure how it would work out. We had a blast! We had a few criteria for our trip - water access, proximity to kid friendly activities, peace and quiet, and dog friendly. This home has all and then some. The views are spectacular, particularly for sunsets. Goose Bay is relatively shallow, so there is little in the way of boat traffic or noise. We essentially had the bay to ourselves. A dead end dirt road added to the serenity. The home was clean, a little quirky (all fun - spiral staircase, fascinating (not used) wood stove, and all around unique), and nearly instantly easy to relax in. We spent several evenings on the dock watching shooting stars. Fishing was great - either on the dock or by kayak, with largemouth and bluegill hitting nearly anything tossed into the water. The water was a little weedy in spots, but it didn’t deter one kid from regular dips into the bay. We loved the deck! The beds, chairs, couches, etc were all very comfortable, and the home had all the kitchen items we needed. It was a perfect blend of peace and quiet, water access, a touch of camping (lots of time outside), and close proximity to activities for the kids/family.Type your paragraph here.

The Goose Bay Cottage was absolutely fantastic. A few highlights: - Incredible view of the St. Lawrence River - Close everything you'd want to do in the Thousand Islands Region - Thoughtful amenities such as a gas grill, a Roku with streaming capabilities, and a clothesline - This one may be a little strange, but it's worth noting; the Goose Bay Cottage has the sweetest well water coming straight from the tap! Donna and Mark were wonderful hosts. Friendly and informative, they took the time to get to know us and gave us some background information about the area! 10/10 would recommend to anybody wanting to experience all that the Thousand Islands region has to offer!
